When a Teams transcript exists

A Teams transcript only exists if someone started transcription in the meeting, and your organisation's policy has to allow it. If it wasn't on, the Align extension can take notes from Teams' live captions in a browser-based call.

What you get back

  • A short summary of what came up
  • Decisions, marked as settled only when the group agreed
  • Action items with an owner and a due date when one was said
  • Questions that are still open
  • A plain follow-up email you can paste and send

Frequently asked questions

How do I get a transcript from a Teams meeting?

Transcription must be started during the meeting. Afterwards, open the meeting, go to Recap and then Transcript, and copy or download it. Admin policy and plan decide whether it's available.

Do I need Copilot to summarize a Teams meeting?

No. This tool works on any transcript text you can paste, with no Microsoft licence.

Can it read the downloaded Teams file?

Yes. Upload the .vtt or .txt version, or paste the text. Speaker names and timestamps are understood.

Is my transcript stored?

This tool doesn't save it, and leaves it to our AI providers only to write the notes. Leave out anything sensitive.
