Trying Align without an account

You can start an Align without signing in. That Align room is held in memory and deleted a short time after it ends. We don’t attach your identity to it. Basic, non-identifying product analytics (see below) still apply.

When you sign in

We collect only what’s needed to give you an account and your decision history: your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google; and the Aligns you save — the transcript, the AI-generated decisions, risks and action items, and basic metadata (title, date, participant names). Authentication and this data are handled by Supabase on our behalf.

Documents you upload

Uploaded documents are used to run the Align — to build the agenda and let the AI answer from the source. They live with the Align room and are removed when it’s reaped. We don’t train AI models on your documents or transcripts. To run the AI, their text (and a description of any uploaded image) is sent to third-party model providers; some of the ones we use today are free tiers whose own terms may let them keep or learn from what they process, so keep confidential material out of Align for now.

Audio & video recordings

When the host of an audio or video Align chooses to record, the whole call is recorded server-side and stored in private Supabase Storage. Everyone in the room sees a REC indicator and a notice while recording is on, and the host can stop it at any time. Recordings can only be played by the Align’s owner and its members, through short-lived links. Anyone who doesn’t want to be recorded can leave the room. Text-only and anonymous Aligns are never recorded.

Align browser extension (Chrome, Brave and Microsoft Edge)

The extension does nothing on a call until you press Start. Starting posts a note in the call chat so everyone knows Align is listening (with a link where people on the call can leave an email to get the notes), and turns on the live captions where it can. From then until you stop, it transcribes the call’s audio: the other people’s audio the meeting app plays in the tab, and your microphone only while the meeting app shows you unmuted. The audio is sent in short chunks to our speech-to-text provider (Groq) and turned into text. Unless you turn “Keep call audio” off in the extension’s settings, Align keeps those chunks for 30 days so you can play moments of the call back and share clips, then deletes them (at once if you discard the call); clip links stop playing audio when it’s deleted. It reads the caption text and speaker names on the page to know who said what, and falls back to the captions alone if audio can’t be read; you can switch to captions only in the extension’s settings. Video is never recorded. That transcript, the participant names and the call’s meeting ID are sent to your Align account to write live notes, answer your questions, flag conflicts with your team’s earlier decisions, and save the call as a record. If you’ve connected a calendar, the meeting ID is used to match the call to your invite. When you choose to send a recap, Align emails it to the addresses you confirm, matching names from the call to your teammates. An email someone leaves on a recap link is used only to send them that recap, and is deleted if you discard the call. In your browser, the extension stores its connection key, your settings, and a copy of the in-progress call so nothing is lost if Chrome restarts. The connection key is revocable from your Align dashboard; we keep only a hash of it. Use Discard on any call to delete its transcript and record from Align. The extension sends no analytics, and the data it collects is used only to provide these features — it is not sold or shared for advertising.

Product analytics

We use PostHog to understand how the product is used — page visits and events like “started an Align” or “downloaded a record”. We don’t send your name, email, document contents, or transcript text to analytics. Signed-in events are tied to a random user id only.

Processors we use

Supabase (accounts, database, file storage); Resend (sending sign-in emails); our email provider (sending meeting recaps you choose to send); LiveKit (real-time voice and video for Aligns); AI model providers (speech-to-text, text-to-speech, the language model that facilitates the Align and extracts the decision record, and a vision model that reads uploaded images — prompts, transcript text and uploaded images are sent to these providers to generate responses, under their own data terms); PostHog (privacy-scoped product analytics); Vercel / hosting (serving the app; standard server logs).

Retention

Ephemeral Align rooms: deleted shortly after the Align ends. Saved decision records, including Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom calls captured with the extension: kept until you delete or discard them, or close your account. Recordings: kept with the saved Align and deleted with it or with your account. Analytics events: retained per PostHog’s defaults.

Your choices

You can ask us to export or delete your account and its data by emailing hello@meet-align.com. We’ll action deletion requests within a reasonable time.
