Decisions made in Slack, kept in Align

Send a message or thread to Align and it becomes a decision or a task, linked back to the conversation. Ask @Align what was decided and get an answer with sources, visible only to you.

Add to SlackFree on every plan. Takes about a minute.

What it does

In SlackWhat happens
Message menu → Send to AlignTurns any message or thread into a decision or a task in Align, with a link back to the thread. Align replies in the thread so everyone can see where it went.
@Align <question>Answers from your meetings, decisions, docs and tasks, with sources. In a channel the answer is only visible to you.
DM AlignSame answers, as a normal direct message.
The Align app's Home tabHow to use it, whether your Align account is connected, and what you've sent to Align recently.
Send to Slack (from Align)Post meeting notes, a decision or a plan from Align into a channel you pick. Nothing is posted without you choosing it.

Install

  1. Sign in to Align (or create a free account).
  2. Open Settings → Integrations and choose Connect next to Slack.
  3. Pick your workspace and choose Allow.
  4. Invite Align to the channels you want it in with /invite @Align. Private channels are never read unless someone invites it.

What it can read, and why

PermissionWhy Align needs it
Public and private channels it's invited to (history, list)To read the message or thread you send to Align, and to answer questions with the conversation as context. Only channels Align is a member of.
Join public channelsSo "Send to Align" and "Send to Slack" work in a public channel without inviting the bot first. It never joins private channels on its own.
Mentions and direct messagesTo answer when you @mention Align or DM it.
Member names and emailsTo match a Slack person to their Align account, so an answer only shows what that person can already open in Align.
Send messagesTo reply in the thread after a capture, answer questions, and post what you choose to send from Align.
ShortcutsFor the "Send to Align" item in the message menu.

Align keeps a searchable copy of the channels it's a member of, so answers can cite them. It never sees DMs between people, and Align doesn't train AI models on your messages.

Remove it

  • In Align: Settings → Integrations → Slack → Disconnect. This revokes Align's token right away.
  • Or in Slack: Settings & administration → Manage apps → Align → Remove app.
  • To delete what Align stored from Slack, disconnect and email hello@meet-align.com, and we'll delete it.
